Environmental 

Environmental responsibility is a key part of our organisational culture. We actively engage in ecological and environmental education projects, as well as in concrete actions within our hotels. 

At Continental Hotels, sustainability begins with concrete actions integrated into our daily hotel operations. We’ve implemented a series of operational measures that directly contribute to reducing our environmental impact: 

  • We have eliminated single-use plastic containers for bathroom amenities, opting instead for reusable, durable, and easy-to-maintain solutions. 
  • We have replaced single-use plastic consumables with compostable or biodegradable alternatives, in line with environmental regulations. 
  • We encourage guests to help conserve resources by choosing to suspend housekeeping services on certain days. 
  • In some locations, we have implemented energy-efficient LED lighting technology. 
  • We practice waste separation and provide ongoing training to our teams to ensure these measures are properly applied. 

The largest environmental volunteer movement in Romania, part of the global Let’s Do It World network. How we contribute: 

  • We actively support and participate in the National Cleanup Day initiative (September 20), part of World Cleanup Day. 
  • We are involved in promoting and developing the “Let’s Do It, Romania!” app, which helps report polluted areas. 
  • We support the #DoerSchools educational network, which empowers students to become active protectors of the environment. 

An organization with impact in environmental education and reforestation. 

How we contribute: 

  • We sponsor participation in the Eco Leadership Camp for students and teachers. 
  • We support the “Adopt a Tree” program, contributing to reforestation efforts in southern Romania. 
  • We support the educational center “Roua din Vurpăr” – a model of applied sustainability.

  • Topics covered include: team management, time management, assertive communication, and the use of modern technologies (including AI).
  • We support work-life balance through wellness campaigns and participation in events such as Color Run, Let’s Do It, Romania!, Transilvania Bike Trails Race, BIFF, or BIAS.
  • We promote performance through a transparent evaluation process, continuous feedback, and an internal promotion system based on merit.
  • We annually measure employee satisfaction through internal surveys, with results translated into concrete action plans
  • Our internal campaign #stiupecineva highlights the stories, passions, and achievements of our colleagues, strengthening the sense of community and belonging.

We believe that education should not only be supported, but also inspired. That’s why we’ve partnered with BookLand Association, one of the most well-known educational initiatives in Romania: 

  • We support the BookLand Evolution Meetings project, which gives exceptional high school students across the country access to unique educational experiences, mentor sessions, cultural tours, and thematic workshops. 
  • We provide logistical support and ongoing promotion, with the Continental Hotels brand featured in video materials, social media, and the project’s educational platforms.
  • Through this partnership, we join a network of renowned companies and institutions that strategically invest in shaping the next generation.
