The history of Continental Hotels on the Romanian hospitality market started in 1991. From the very start, the our targeted was the business tourism. The company’s development aimed at covering the luxury, the business and the economy market, by providing 5, 4, 3 and 2 star accommodation services.

History

Our history

Continental Hotels is the most important Romanian hotel group, this statement being supported by our presence on the hotel market since 1991, when the company was incorporated, but also by the quality of our services.

Initially, the Continental Hotel Chain included the homonymous hotel complexes in Bucharest, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Tîrgu-Mureș and Constanța, amounting to a total of 403 rooms, plus the Continental Hotel in Timișoara, which has never really become part of the chain, although it was assigned to the Continental Company, under a Government Decision.

After being fully privatised in 1995, SC CONTINENTAL SA went through a flourishing period of development, supported by the efficient use of the capitals brought in by important shareholders.

2022

In March 2022, after an extensive renovation and modernisation process, MyContinental Bucharest was reopened.

2021

Opening of hotels Continental Forum Constanta and Continental Forum Bucharest and MyContinental Sibiu.

2020

Starting with July 1st 2020, Continental Hotels and Accor have jointly decided not to extend their management agreement. Four hotels owned by the Continental Hotels will no longer operate under the Ibis brand. The hotels will be closed for renovation and rebranding.

Following the refurbishment, hotels Continental Forum Bucharest and Continental Forum Constanta will operate under a four-star standard, whereas MyContinental Bucharest and My Continental Sibiu will be three-star facilities
